Processing Consent Signals

Publishers can pass a user consent signal on redirect if; they have already captured consent from a user and, if they believe that the user consent is considered an exemption under the EU E-privacy regulations that have been implemented into UK law as the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Alternatively, Optimise can enable the consent signal on behalf of the publisher, provided that ALL of the publisher’s activity . Please contact your Optimise Account Manager for further information.

In very simple terms PECR allows for an exemption to apply to subscription services that operate online only and that pay the user. Whilst our publishers are able to pass a consent signal, Optimise will only pass this on to an advertiser if the publisher's service qualifies as "strictly necessary" and the publisher has been approved as being exempt by Optimise, giving advertisers confidence that this is something they can rely on.

Advertisers

Advertisers can realise the benefits of this via the cookie management system they operate, by defining that where consent =1 all cookies used for Optimise tracking (and for tracking that Advertisers may use to send conversion data or validations to Optimise) should be treated as essential.

There are a variety of third-party solutions for this so it will not be possible for Optimise make these changes or provide advice on doing so.

By following this approach the advertiser will have less cashback enquiries to process and know that publishers are appropriately rewarded for the value they bring to the partnership. Advertisers should contact their Account Manager if they have questions.
